Yey! I have been made unofficial team leader of Phoenix! (I'm thinking it wouldn't be so very wrong for us to call ourselves 'Order of the...') heh heh. 'Team Phoenix' makes me think of Phoenix Nights- urgh. I feel all responsible now...

Still trying to get into the LJ habit but everything's very busy at the moment... argh!

I've sprained my wrist and it hurts... and I've just spent nearly all of my small savings pool on a MacBook. I don't even know how to use a Mac! What was I thinking??!!

HP premiere

Yes, I was there! Well, looking on from the outer circle but I still got to see everyone! It was a pretty great atmosphere even with the monsoon rain and all the stars- especially Emma Watson, looked stunning. The pictures I've seen from the premiere since are all so dreadfully unflattering- I couldn't believe them, nothing like seeing everyone in real life. If anyone's in London it's definitely worth checking out the enormous posters on the Odeon facade. Lucius looks... glorious! It's the only word I can think of! Obviously Jason Isaacs wasn't there on the day (if he had have been I would have queued from 5am to get in the inner circle!) but being on the outside turned out not to be so bad after all; although I didn't meet any of the stars from Harry Potter, I did run into Clive Owen- who dashed past me about three times trying to figure out the weird red carpet layout- there were about three entrances which kept opening at different times. Anyway, having done a reci earlier to find the best standing spot, on his third pass I (madly!) offered to help him get to the entrance. I don't know what came over me! Anyway he seemed sort of shocked but relieved that I'd asked and I joked that he was really Clive Owen ("right?") and not some mad fan who was surrepticiously trying to sneak in disguised as him. I felt a bit bad though because he was with this other guy who I didn't know and I didn't know what to say to him so I just didn't say anything to him (eep!) They both seemed really grateful anyway and Mr. Owen gave me an autograph saying "thanks for navigating" although you can barely read it from the pouring rain marks which have practically destroyed the paper. Oh well! That was my good deed for the day!

I'm back!

Well it's been a long while since I posted since I've just been generally super-busy but finally I'm back, and not only back to LJ- I'm back in England!!! Woot!!! And tonight I'm going to watch Equus. Oh the joy! I'll be sure to post my review but don't expect any photos because I just... I would just feel wrong asking for one. Don't ask me why- I just never ask for photos with actors.

The flights weren't too bad. I watched PotC 3(which was appallingly bad- I was really disappointed after the excellent parts 1 & 2), Bridge to Terabithia (not the most original but with a fabulous twist and a clever and very subtle demonstration of 'every action has a reaction'- go and watch), A Chinese film called 300 Pounds Beauty (also fairly formulaic but very well done with some great performances.)

So last night, I surprised my best friend with my arrival. Her Mum lured her over saying that an enormous pink parcel had arrived in the post for her, but low and behold, it was I. She must have been wailing for half a minute before she dared approach me. I really think she thought I was a ghost!

I'm off for 12 days...

Well I'm up late packing for my all-expenses-paid-trip-over-1000-miles-up-the-coast-of-Queensland. Kind of nervous since I don't know the four people I'm travelling with at all and since I'll be the main focus of filming. I'm starting to feel very paranoid that I won't look as pretty in real life as in the photo I sent with my application!- especially since I know I won't get any sleep tonight!  As per usual when travelling a long distance I am totally unprepared. I've been listening to the GoF audiobook as I pack and I've just got to the part before the second task where Harry's finally gone, Oh shit, I've only got one night left to figure out how to do this!!- and finding his feelings rather nauseatingly mirrored by my own. Anyway this is meant to be short (since I have to get on) but I just thought I'd let everyone know I'm not ignoring them- I'm just not here :)

The definition of Sod's Law

Check out these AMAZING pieces of news I got all in the last two days:

-I have been selected by the Intrepid travel company to go on not just one expensive holiday but two- all expenses paid- so they can film me throughout the experience and get my views on the trip (OMG!!!)

-A modelling agency I contacted a while ago and turned down have called me asking if I would please please do a shoot for them because they need 150 girls all under 5ft 6 (which I am) and they don't have enough girls that size on their books. All silly modelling registration fees would be waived if I do the shoot and I'll get AUS$2000 (£830 or US$1660 or 1220) which always comes in handy!

However...
Since I leave in six weeks and I want to save up money for all the fun and joy of Sectus, I can't really afford to go off on free holidays on TV for 2 1/2 weeks. "But wait!" I hear you cry, "who needs to save when you get paid $2000 for a photo shoot?" Well, the shoot will be in the next couple of months (date TBA) so unless I'm very lucky it's probably going to clash with Equus so... basically I can only go on the holidays if I do the shoot but if I do the shoot I'll probably have to change my flight dates (which may not be possible) and I'll miss Equus. So the question is, is seeing Equus worth loosing out on two free holidays and $2000? Or alternatively are the free holidays and the shoot worth all the hassle of paying to change my flight tickets and plans again?

What am I going to do????

Deliverance

Well I just watched Deliverance with Dad. He never recommends movies so I figured it'd be good, and it was :) if a little creepy and pretty scary in a non-horror sort of a way. Basically (no spoilers) four guys go for a camping/canoeing weekend in the American South and end up getting deep into a situation they have no control over. It's a very believable storyline even if the initial catalyst is a little unlikely (I hope it is anyway!) Go watch it if you haven't seen it.

I went to watch 300 again last night which was really bad of me because I should have been at work and I don't even think the film's that good. I mean it's good, don't get me wrong, but not amazing enough to watch it twice in a week at the cinema. Even so, I wanted to watch something and there is NOTHING I haven't seen at the cinema worth watching so 300 was the choice since it's beautiful to watch (even without the eye candy). I just drank in the costumes at every available moment... Xerxes alone- wow!- there's a fic in there somewhere!

I was also rewarded with my first look at the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End trailer which had me on the edge of my seat- it looks awesome! (Of course!) I'm so excited!

I'm thinking about getting a new tattoo to cover my old one which I hugely dislike. It's on my hip and it's tiny but it bugs me. Instead I'm thinking of getting a snake which would wrap around across my hips and around my bottom :) There's a pic here of the way I think it would wrap- I'd really appreciate feedback! Contains tasteful female nudity (bottoms only!)

Booked flights!!! (& '300')

I've been away for a few days so apologies for the lack of existence.

I have finally sorted out confirmation of my flight details! This is a massive sigh of relief- I've had this horrible niggling in the back of my mind that for some inexplicable reason I won't get the money together or all the flights will be booked or something and I'll be doomed to entrapment in Australia for the duration of Sectus. But it's okay, everything is finally falling into place and I will arrive in London on...In other news, I went to see '300' the other day. I was in a really bad mood and it was just the thing I needed to sort my head out- lots of strong, masculine, muscular men in leather thongs fighting lean, creepy, beautiful Persians. Even better Dominic West was in it- he went to my brother's school and I've met him a couple of times. It's always nice to see a local boy in a big movie. Oh, and how much do I want to get a job with the costume designer?!!! I'm sooooooooo writing to him!

Mum is ruining my good mood- gotta go. Ugh!

Brotherhood

I'm mega-bored: I feel trapped in this house, in this town, in this country. Everywhere else just seems very far away, whether it's my friends or whether it's conventions or jobs-I-could-apply-for-were-I-not-here. Ugh. Fortunately, Brotherhood is coming on in 15 minutes so I can wallow in that for two hours. It's episodes 3 & 4. I'm not too sure how I feel about this series- I think it's going to be good but as yet it's not really taken off. Jason is really good- his accent is amazing- every time he talks I'm surprised by the accent and it's so weird because usually, when I watch actors I like in different shows, there's always a part of them which is still the actor or the character from another film but this guy (Michael Caffee) is not Jason, is not Hook, is not Lucius. None of it's there- I can't even imagine him as Hook etc. It's very odd. Refreshing.

Wands

OMG!! I just took a little trip up on my scooter to this little town up in the mountains just north of me and I wandered into the prettiest little woodworking shop. I really had to restrain myself from buying anything- but I made copious notes to figure out what I want to buy later!

Anyway, amongst their collection they have hand carved wands which are crafted to bring out unique aspects of the grain and colours of the wood etc. Basically, they're BEAUTIFUL. What's really fabulous is that because this is Australia they have some really cool sounding tree names- there's even a Mangrove root wand! In addition they will have your name (or anything else you'd like, including patterns) seared onto the wood and they will also do commissions at no extra charge if you'd like a certain type. Not only this but they also have little wooden potions/perfume bottles made of large seeds pods and notebooks with carved wood patterns on the cover! The prices are good too. The wands range from AUS$25 to AUS$65 (US$20.27 to US$52 or £10.30 to £26.77) and it costs an extra AUS$10 (or US$8.11 or £4.11) to have a design/name seared onto any item in the shop. They are all presented in the most beautiful boxes! Oh, I think I'm in love!

I didn't have my camera on me but the guy was really friendly and said he'd be happy to let me take a couple of photos since I told him I thought "some of my friends back home" might be interested in getting one. I can't go back up there for two weeks 'cause my week's chocka but if anyone's interested, let me know and I'll try and get a pic of something you're interested in!

Done the deed!

I am officially a fool. I just booked my ticket (the last ticket available for the date!) for Equus! I'm seeing it at 7:30 on June 6th in a good aisle seat in the stalls. Yeep!

The last documents for my permanent residency application arrived today so I instantly sent them off to the government. I thought it would be months before they arrived but now it looks like I may have residency in just a few weeks! Fingers crossed! This is relevant because this application is the only thing keeping me in Australia and would be the only thing stopping me from staying in the UK post-Sectus anyway. So basically my crazy Equus ticket-buying frenzy isn't so crazy after all. I was planning on returning as soon as my application was sorted out and since it ought to be sorted before Equus, all is good. It also means I will be in the UK for a potential interview I am hoping to get. More on that if it transpires...

I'm off to write my final cheque for the residency course at Sectus now and then all I need to do is book my flight... and figure out what the hell to do in Europe for 6 weeks. Brilliant!

Cover art!!! And an invitation...

OMG!!! Have just seen the cover art!!! Having sat there watching the blurb appear second by second I realised that there is no way I will be able to hold back from reading the book all in one go! Not that I was planning to but I was hoping to at least try and savour it. It's just not gonna happen. Ideally I'd like to able to chat to people after every five chapters or so and make predictions and share revelations as we go. Can you imagine the sqeeing?! Actually, this might be a good moment to mention that I have a double room booked at Hazlitts the night the book is released- it's a luxury hotel, Hogwarts in style (17th Century 4 posters etc!) and JKR loves to stay there. I want to stay in the reading room at Sectus for a bit but I suspect I may wish to retire elsewhere later in the night. ANYWAY, since I have a double room with a sofa bed as well, I thought I'd invite some select people along

Back to the covers... I'm trying to figure out where the hell all the pictures are set
And lastly (it's been a busy day!) I had my first archery lesson today

Man am I awake! This stripping lark is throwing my body clock totally off. I just watched CoS for the first time in ages- first time since reading HBP- and it made watching Riddle so much more creepy. I also picked out at least 15 more plot holes though. I really shouldn't watch the movies more than once-, they just get me angry!

I didn't meet my date- I really just wanted to get on with some of my own stuff so I said I'd meet him next week. I justified it by sorting out an ace bit of plot for my book instead so I'm feeling happier about that too. The only thing is, it's now changed from one book to five books (!!!) I realised that there's no way I can fit everything I'm trying to achieve into the one volume. It makes the whole thing much more daunting but also more exciting- I really feel like

I'm really tired! I had a pretty crap time working last night- I only made AUS$80 (£33.00 or US$64.50) which is soooo not worth it.

I'm working in a strip club at the moment to fund my Potter habit- well, to fund my flight back to the UK for Sectus. It's really not all that bad- it's pretty fun, the girls are friendly and for the most part the guys are polite and normal. On a good night you can make a lot of money but since we only get paid for the number of dances we do, the empty nights especially suck because it's boring AND you don't get paid. Hopefully tonight will be better...

A guy also asked if he could meet up with me outside the club for a coffee. He seemed really normal and we had an interesting chat so I gave him my email. He's asked me if i want to go for a picnic with him tomorrow... I haven't decided if I'll go or not but it'll be a public place and it's not like I know ANYONE in this country so I'll probably say yes, if I'm not too busy anyway... we'll see.
